Board Appointments
The Atlantic Pilotage Authority is pleased to announce three new federal appointments and three re-appointments of its Board of Directors.
The Chair of the Board, L. Anne Galbraith, has been reappointed for a 1-year term, or until such time that a new Chair is appointed, whichever occurs first. Ms. Galbraith has been Chair since February 2015.
New to the Board is John McCann of Dartmouth, NS who has been appointed for a 4-year term. Captain McCann is a Master Mariner and manages Marine Safety and Security Systems for the Halifax Transit Ferry Service. Captain McCann is a member of the Master Mariners of Canada, an International Maritime Organization Ambassador, serves on the Board of the Halifax Mission to Seafarers and is a trustee for the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust.
Appointed for a 3-year term is Kathryn Craig of Saint John, NB. Ms. Craig was the CEO of Fundy Linen Service and subsequent Executive Director of FacilicorpNB, was a former member and Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Port Saint John and received a “Top 50 CEO Award” in 2003.
New APA Board Member, Vivek Saxena, of Antigonish, NS has been appointed for a 4-year term. Captain Saxena is also a Master Mariner and the Academic Chair of the Nautical Institute at the Nova Scotia Community College Strait Campus in Port Hawkesbury, Cape Breton.
Captain Edward Anthony, a retired marine pilot of St. John’s, NL has been re-appointed for a 4-year term. Captain Anthony has been a Board Member since 2009 and also previously served on the Board from 1993-1998.
Alisa Aymar of Meteghan River, NS was re-appointed for a 3-year term. Ms. Aymar has been a Board Member since 2008 and is the Financial Services Manager at Comeau Seafoods in Saulnierville, NS.
At this time, we thank 3 outgoing Board Members for their service to the Authority’s Board: Captain Alexander MacIntyre, retired Halifax marine pilot who served on the Board since 2014; Brian Ritchie, President of Rigel Shipping of Shediac, NB who has served on the Board since 2012; and Jim Stoneman, President of Atship Services, Halifax, who has served on the Board since 2005.
